What is Kindle?

What is Kindle I have been asked by several of my friends and family about my newest craze. What is Kindle! Are you kidding me, are you living under a rock? Okay I wasn't that mean to them. Some of them would never ever even think of going online or getting involved with technology, but that's okay, because even they could find enjoyment with a Kindle.

This Page is not really meant to be a review of the Kindle technically. It is meant to be a love story, between me and my Kindle.

Arts and Crafts Means Glass Etching

Glass EtchingI love crafts. Most of the crafts that I enjoy involve yarn in some fashion, you know, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, cross stitch, whatever! I love them all. But I have only just recently become interested in Glass etching as a fun pastime. I saw it on youtube, of all places. I have included a couple videos in this lens.

You will find that glass etching is a very special craft, and that you will make some gorgeous items that will become cherished, either has heirlooms or gifts.

This craft is not overly difficult, and it is very fun, You will find that the process of etching will make you feel relaxed and quite accomplished. Even beginners pick up on it quite quickly.

It is really rather remarkable. I hope you will enjoy it too.

The Toucan, Rockstar of the Rainforest!

The Toucan The Toucan is a rainforest icon, He is the Rock Star of the Jungle. There are at least a dozen species and several smaller Toucanettes He lives in Central and South America. They have huge colorful bills and beautiful plumage. The body is relatively robust and the Toucan's wings are short and rounded, thus they are a poor flyer, and moves about primarily by hopping. When it tries to lift off, its flight is undulating, with the bird rising with a few quick wing beats and descending on a short glide.

Come meet the Toucan and see what makes him special. Beautiful Color!

Civil War Bullet Collecting

Civil War Bullet Collecting Did you know that during the Civil War, more than 1000 different types of bullets were used? This is one reason Civil War bullet collecting has become a popular hobby. Another reason is that the time of the Civil War saw changes taking place in the development of firearms and ammunition. The old round musketballs of the Revolution were being replaced with bullets in the shape we are accustomed to. While musketballs are found on Civil War battlefields, the most common type of bullet used was the .58-caliber bullet with three rings around the base. Many bullets found are splattered out of shape. If you've always been fascinated by the Civil War and firearms, Civil War bullet collecting is a hobby you will enjoy.

Anger Management in Children

Anger Management in ChildrenK ids are normally very open with regards to sharing feelings and emotions. A child may be burdened with feelings of pain and guilt but you may never learn it from a conversation.

A child's feelings are usually displayed in their behavior. When a child is sad they may keep to themselves or have little to say. When a child feels guilty they may avoid people and stay in their room. When a child is angry they may break their toys, scream or throw a tantrum.

Children are not always verbal about their emotions but actions often speak much louder than words.

This Lens explores some of the ramifications of that anger.

Do Not Touch My Belly

Pregnancy A very fun and even funny lens that does ask a very sensitive question, should people be allowed to just walk up to a pregnant woman and just touch her tummy. No permission, no hesitation, it’s their right to touch the baby bump. Well some pregnant women would disagree and they have to deal with this on a daily basis.
However, some women don’t seem to mind. Where do you fall in this debate? How do you feel? What is right?
Have your say. See what others are saying. Have some fun.

"The Help" - Novel of Page Turning, Gripping, Emotional Character Involvement)

Name your image (search engines likey :) This is a novel of the deep south. During the 1960's, a time of unrest, civil rights, John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King. A time of inequality by either gender or race. A time of genteel living marred by unfair labor.

However, it is also a novel of gumption. Of courage and heart. It will make you laugh and cry. You will be outraged and soothed. It is a defeat and victorious. It is the story of three women, two black and one white and all the other characters around them. Why and how is explained in delightful compelling detail. You will not be able to put this book down. I promise.

Sugar Free Sunshine Cupcake Recipe

My sister in law's recipe. Perfect for gastric bypass people. Legal and delicious. And this is sugar free cooking

A sugar free cupcake that’s approved for a Gastric Bypass Diet.

sunshine cupcake finished product 300x203 Walking on Sunshine Cupcakes Sugar Free Cooking For Gastric Bypass Diet

ngredients:

2 sticks softened butter

1 ½ Cups Sugar Blend Splenda

3 Cups Cake Flour ( cake flour is 27 times finer than all purpose flour)

4 eggs

1 Cup Buttermilk

3 teaspoons Baking Powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 package of sugar free  orangeJell-O

½ Cup sugar free orange soda pop

1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Combine and cream together the butter and Splenda. Beat until light and fluffy.

In a separate bowl sift together the cake flour, baking powder, salt and sugar free orange Jell-O.

To the creamed mixture add eggs one at a tome and incorporate well. Add flour mixture and alternate the buttermilk and flour. Blend well after each addition. Add vanilla.

Last, add ½ cup of the sugar free orange soda pop. Be mindful not to over beat the batter. This will result in a dry cake. By adding the soda pop and Jell-O to this basic recipe will change the texture to a rich, dense  pound cake consistency.

Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full. I use an ice cream scoop to fill the cups. This works well and delivers the perfect amount of batter to the cup. Once baked, this method of measurement will give a uniform appearance to your cupcake.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes before topping with Old Fashioned Sugar Free Frosting. Garnish the top of cupcakes with a slice of fresh orange. One bite of this sunny delight will make your taste buds take flight and leave you smiling!

    Sugar Free Buttercream Frosting Recipe

My sister in law has perfected transforming family recipes into sugar free recipes since her bypass surgery. This one is really a great one to have in your repertoire.

Recently while I was shopping, I was halted in the baking isle and focused on a new name brand sugar free cake mix and sugar free canned frosting. Enticed by an in-store coupon, I purchased both.

Having worked with Splenda for several years I have learned to adapt old family favorites that duplicate all the yummy goodness refined sugar offers. However, my discounted sugar free investment proved to be a bust and was a huge disappointment in the texture and taste compared to my recipes made with Splenda.

    Free Recipe for Farmhouse Carrots

I love carrots and carrots with a glaze is even better. I think these sound easy and delicious.

    Amplify’d from www.webmd.com

    Farmhouse Carrots

    Picture of Farmhouse Carrots

2 Bunches Carrots (about 15ish carrots)
1 Cup Thinly Sliced Spring Onion
    ¼ Cup Roughly Chopped Savory*
    2 Tbsp. Honey
    1 ½ Tbsp. Unsalted Butter
    2 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
    Salt/Pepper
    Fresh chives for garnish

Note: If you cannot find fresh savory, I would use three parts fresh thyme to one part rosemary as an alternative.

    Instructions

    Oven to 400′

In a small bowl, warm the butter, honey and cider vinegar together. Break apart the rings of the spring onion. Add the slices and the chopped savory into the honey mixture and let it all marinate. Set aside.

Cut off the green leafy parts and clean the carrots with a scrub brush. Leave them on a dish towel to dry completely.

Line a baking tray with foil or parchment paper (I didn’t do this, and I wish I did, much easier to clean). Spread out the carrots in a single layer.

Drizzle the honey mixture over and gently toss to coat. Generously sprinkle coarse salt and pepper.

Roast on the upper rack for 20 minutes. Carrots should be tender but still have a good bit of resistance too them.

    Garnish with fresh chives.

    Puppy Mill Legislature Not Good

Have we been duped by the puppy mill legislature. I thought the mills were being shut down. But it seems not. They have found a loop hole. And maybe the law writers were aware. Read on. And please sign the petition to stop this nightmare.

    Amplify’d from www.symptomsindogs.com
Everyone Knows how I feel about Puppy Mills. My Abigail came from a puppy mill and worse yet, we didn’t even find that out for weeks after we purchased her. It was one of those situations where she was sold by a puppy mill to a dog broker who supposedly is reputable, then he sells to individuals and to pet stores. Well no matter how you white wash it, it is despicable, and needs to be stopped.

    Puppy mill puppy

According to the ASPCA and several members of the U.S. House of Representatives, there is a giant-sized loophole in U.S. law concerning puppy mills. Breeders who sell to puppy brokers and pet stores have to be USDA
licensed but those who sell directly to the public are NOT monitored by the USDA.

    Amplify’d from www.foodloversweb.com

This is a great bread to prepare for dinner on a weeknight because it does not have to rise. The buttermilk and baking soda give the oomph needed for this bread to rise in the oven.

Ina Garten made this bread (or very similar) the other day on Barefoot Contessa, I loved it then but didn't bother to get the recipe. Now I have it. This is a recipe from my childhood. Mom made this all the time for us. It is so good.

I enjoy unique ideas. I am not looking for anything specific on your lenses. But I will know when I find a lens worth blessings. I would hope you would have put your love of knitting into creating it. That will be very evident and I would be happy to bless it. And I would be thrilled to learn from you. So enjoy your lens making and put your love of knitting into it and earn my blessings.

And although Knitting patterns and knitting is my main focus. I will certainly be flying over all kinds of lenses and if I find something unique, or beautiful or emotion evoking, you will earn my blessing as well. I am looking forward to visiting many kinds of lenses. All I ask is that you put your love and enthusiasm into whatever your subject. Love your work.

This lens will be a place to organize all my blessed lenses. Also giving an extra backlink to that lens. Which will help the lensmasters and thank them for their great work. So feel free to check back often. Also I love knowing when one of my lenses has been blessed. So I will always let you know I flew by. Smiles to all of you.

    I love Purple Stars

I thought it would be a good idea to show my Purple Star lenses on one lens for those who want to see what lenses got this wonderful Squidoo community honor. You used to be able to get one if you were a giant or 100 squid. They are now open to all to receive and are usually picked by another lensmaster who themselves received one in a pay it forward way.

This is it! The age old question of over or under.

    How do you decide?

    How do you do it?

Is there actually a right or wrong,

How did your mother do it?

How does your wife do it?

    Do you even care?

    There must be an answer...Please!!!

Connecting Hunting Abilities To A Lab's Behavior In The Home

Labrador Retrievers are many things to many people. Because of their loving nature and obedient temperament, these dogs have not only made great companions and helpers, but they are most often used as service dogs for the blind and handicapped.

How many dogs are adaptive enough to live with all of those different roles, yet still have the personality to enjoy swimming, hunting, and play fetching games? Labs are truly universal pets which is why they are one of the most favorite dog to own.

Quintessential list for successful wordpress blog set up, SEO, PLUGINS

I have not seen a better list of to do steps for setting up your blog for success. Excellent suggestions for any work at home scenario. Be sure to compare to what you already have. Michelle MacPhearson has already proved she knows what she is talking about. Over and Over again.

One of the ways to spend more time doing High Yield Internet Marketing activities is to systemize.

And one of the tools many of us use is WordPress. It makes sense to have a default “WordPress Installation Checklist” that you or your team can refer to each and every time you put up a new site. This way nothing is forgotten, you always have the links to download the correct plugins and there’s little ambiguity and therefore less room for mistakes.

I use Basecamp to organize progects, and within Basecamp there is the functionality to create “To-Do List Templates” that can be used over and over again.

Today I’m sharing my personal WordPress installation checklist – this is geared towards internet marketers building content-type sites. We go through each and every step on this list when installing a new site. It’ll produce a wordpress site that’s got it going on in terms on on-page optimization and is ready to grow. Add content and you’re up and running.
